HEALING THAT GOES DEEPER

what is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a trauma-informed therapy that helps you process distressing memories and experiences so they no longer feel as charged or disruptive. Instead of relying only on talking through events, EMDR uses guided bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping) to help the brain reprocess stuck material and integrate it in a healthier, more adaptive way.

EMDR can help:

  • Trauma or PTSD

  • Anxiety and panic

  • Negative self-beliefs that feel hard to shake

  • Emotional reactivity or sensitivity

  • Relationship patterns tied to past experiences

  • Grief and unresolved loss

  • Feeling “stuck” despite traditional talk therapy

You do not need to have a “big trauma” history to benefit from EMDR. Smaller, chronic, or subtle experiences can also deeply shape how you feel, and EMDR can help with those too.

A Path Toward Healing, Relief, and Emotional Freedom

When difficult experiences from your past continue to shape how you feel, think, or show up today, it can be exhausting. You may notice memories that won’t settle, patterns you can’t break, or emotional reactions that feel “bigger” than the moment you’re in. EMDR therapy offers a powerful, evidence-based way to help your mind and body process what’s been overwhelming—so you can feel more grounded, present, and in control.

At MSC Therapy, EMDR is offered as a supportive, structured approach that helps you heal at your own pace.

What EMDR looks like at MSC Therapy:

Our approach integrates EMDR within a warm, relational therapeutic relationship. You won’t be rushed, pushed, or asked to revisit anything before you’re ready. Sessions will include:

  • Stabilization and grounding
You’ll learn skills to help regulate your body and emotions.

  • Identifying what still feels activated
Together, we’ll map out the experiences or beliefs that hold the most charge.

  • Bilateral stimulation (BLS)
This helps your brain process memories and sensations that feel stuck.

  • Integration
We’ll work to develop more adaptive beliefs and emotional patterns that support who you are today.

Whether EMDR is the core of your treatment or integrated with modalities like CBT, ACT, or mindfulness, we’ll build a plan that fits you.
